Fr. Roch Lapalme, SJ, Professes Final Vows in the Society

November 14, 2017 — On Nov. 3, Jesuit Father Roch
Lapalme pronounced his final vows in the Society of Jesus in Montreal at Maison
Bellarmin, the Province office for the Jesuits of French Canada and Haiti.

He professed vows before Father Erik Oland, Provincial
of the French Canada Jesuits; Fr. Lapalme’s mother and sister were also
present, as well as some of his Jesuit brothers. After the Eucharistic
celebration, the guests gathered for a banquet.

Fr. Lapalme was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1964. Before
joining the Society in 1995, he studied history and literature at Laval
University in Quebec City and at L’Université de Sherbrooke. He coauthored a
book devoted to Quebec’s song heritage, “Guide
de la chanson québécoise,
” in 1996.

He studied theology at Laval University, then
completed a master’s degree in spiritual accompaniment at Loyola University Maryland.
From 2003 to 2005, he served as chaplain at the College Notre-Dame de Jamhour
in Lebanon.

Fr. Lapalme was a Provincial consultor from 2009 to
2013 and a collaborator with the Centre de spiritualité Manrese in Quebec City,
where he is currently a member of the board. Since 2015, he has served as the superior
of the bi-province novitiate for the Jesuits in French and English Canada. [Source: Jesuites.org]
