News Story

November 1, 2018 — On October 23 the Jesuits held their second "Wine and Cheese" event in the Main Chapel of Collège Brébeuf. It was a celebration that was both joyful and informative, with Mr. François-J Coutu as Honorary President. Some 200 guests were able to sample five wines and an ice cider from Quebec and Canada presented by Mrs. Marie-Michèle Grenier, while they savoured the excellent cuisine of Chef Danny St-Pierre. Passionate about Greco-Latin culture, our Master of Ceremonies Mr. Richard Coutu kept the tone festive during the evening. In addition, — and much appreciated — Fr. Erik Oland sang "Simple Gifts", a Shaker folk song, and spoke to us briefly about important elements of the mission of the Jesuits in Canada.

Three videos were shown: one on the Canoe Pilgrimage organized by Jesuits in formation in collaboration with indigenous groups in support of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the second on the Manresa Centre of Spirituality in Quebec, and the third on Mer et Monde, an organization of international solidarity and social analysis.

With very sincere gratitude to those who attended, and in particular to the volunteers (from Mer et Monde, from the Lac Simon Camp, and the Jesuits in formation) we invite you to participate in the next edition of this wonderful celebration which will be held at the Gesù, probably on October 22, 2019, beginning at 6:00 PM.
