His Excellency Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada

Dr. Michael Bautista
Embodying the Jesuit ideal of being a man for others, Dr. Bautista dedicates himself to service and faith. When the province of Newfoundland withdrew all public funding for Catholic education in 1997, he helped establish St. Bonaventure’s College. Without his assistance, the Jesuit commitment to education in Newfoundland would have been lost. As the long-standing chair of its Board of Governors, he worked tirelessly to ensure financial stability and growth. His efforts continue through the endowment committee, helping families seeking a Jesuit education for their children. The Jesuit ideal of being a contemplative in action permeates every aspect of his life.
