Holy Souls Appeal
2023
Dear Friends of the Jesuits,
November is the month of the Holy Souls, as the Church invites us to pray for our loved ones, relatives, friends, and neighbours who have passed. As we get older, we seem to have more and more in heaven than on earth. The Church reminds us that the only way for these Holy Souls to realize their eternal reward in Heaven is through our intercessions and prayers.
Pope Francis invites us to pray for those who have gone before us,
God of infinite mercy,
we entrust to Your immense goodness all those
who have left this world for eternity,
where You wait for all humanity,
redeemed by the precious blood of Christ Your Son,
who died as a ransom for our sins.
Look not, O Lord, on our poverty, our suffering,
our human weakness, when we appear before You,
to be judged for joy or for condemnation.
Look upon us with mercy,
born of the tenderness of Your heart
and help us to walk in the ways
of complete purification.
The Jesuits of Canada invite you to send the names of the important people in your lives who have passed. These names will be placed in a basket at the altar of the René Goupil Chapel, located within the Jesuit infirmary. Throughout November the Jesuits will pray for your loved ones during their daily Eucharist.
We sincerely hope that you will join us in the prayerful remembrance of the deceased. May our prayers and actions during November help all those in purgatory attain the glories of heaven.
