Dear Friends,

The summer months of July and August are behind us as we enter September: the month when schools of all levels start, and our busy lives tend to become even more so.

Pope Francis’ intention for this September is very timely and I hope you will take a few minutes toconsider his invitation to care for those in need, especially people living in the margins.

“We pray for those persons living on the margins of society, in inhumane life conditions;

May they not be overlooked by institutions and never considered of lesser importance.”

Pope Francis’ invitation is in line with St. Ignatius’ method of finding God in all people and things. This stems from the art of deep listening, discernment and reverence for each person’s dignity and unique identity. It welcomes the individual’s personal journey, offering spiritual and emotional support to everyone. No one is overlooked and none are considered of lesser importance. What a charitable world we could have if more people acted with these values.

We at the Jesuit Office of Advancement are honoured to work with such a wonderful group of people, benefactors, and supporters. We are pleased to announce our events for the coming months:

  1. November is the month of the Holy Souls, as the Church invites us to pray for our loved ones, relatives, friends, and neighbours who have passed.Please consider a donation in their memory. Names of the remembered will be placed in a basket at the altar of the René Goupil Chapel, located within the Jesuit infirmary, in Pickering. The Jesuits will pray for your loved ones during their daily Eucharist.
  2. The Scotch Nosing fundraising event: November 15, 2023, at The Albany Club in Toronto. This event sells out fast so please contact the Office of Advancement at      416-481-9154 or supportus@jesuits.ca for all the details, to purchasetickets and become a sponsor.
  3. The Jesuit Provincial’s Dinner 2024: April 17, 2024,at Bellvue Manor. This celebration of our Jubilarians and Magis award winners will be a glorious evening of community including an on-site Mass. Further details in upcoming months.

The Jesuits in formation and those in their senior years are appreciative of your support. We thank you for your prayers and generous gifts.

Respectfully Yours in Christ,

Scott McMaster
