Dear Friends,

November is the month of Holy Souls, it embodies the values and beliefs we hold dear, when the Church invites us to pray for our loved ones, relatives, friends, and neighbours who have passed. It is a time when we reflect on the belief that the souls of the departed are on a journey to their heavenly home. We can be one with them in a very intimate and personal way in prayer and in the Eucharist.

Together, we embody the timeless belief that the bonds of love and faith are not broken by death. We are encouraged to perform acts of charity and prayer for the souls of our loved ones.

St. Ignatius encouraged us to pray for the souls of the departed, emphasizing that these acts of mercy bring us closer to God’s love and grace. In this same spirit of communion, the Jesuits of Canada are continuing the tradition of inviting friends to share the names of important people in their lives who have departed. These names will be placed in a basket at the altar of Rene Goupil Chapel, located within the Jesuit infirmary. Throughout November, the Jesuits will pray for your loved ones during their daily Eucharist.

We invite you to send a donation and the names of the important people you wish prayers to be said for to supportus@jesuits.ca or contact our Jesuit Office of Advancement directly at 416-481-9154.

With your generous donations we support Jesuits in formation and those living in the infirmary who have dedicated their lives to serve our spiritual journey.

Respectfully yours in Christ,

Scott McMaster
