News Story

February 01, 2017 — On Tuesday, January 31st, the Director of Quebec City’s Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec, M. Boufeldja Benabdallah, accompanied Cardinal Cyprien Lacroix to a Mass at Notre Dame-de-Foy Church where hundreds of Christians and Muslims prayed together for the victims of Sunday night’s attack on the Grand Mosque of Quebec.

This act of solidarity, grief, and communion exemplifies the kind of community we want to be, the kind of Church we want to be, the kind of Canada we want to be. The Jesuits join our prayers to those of our Muslim sisters and brothers, and to the desires of all people of good will, for an end to hatred and fear, and for the construction of respect, justice and peace.

May God, the Compassionate and Merciful, heal our hearts and make us all into agents of peace.

Fr. Peter Bisson, SJ

Provincial Superior
