March 22, 2019 — Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) is pleased to host Father Charles Chilufya SJ, Director of the Justice and Ecology for the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar. He will be visiting Canada as a guest of Canadian Jesuits International and will speak at a public event in Toronto on March 26, 2019. His topic is “Africa: Tax Justice and the Common Good.”
Fr. Chilufya holds a Master of Research in Management Sciences and Business Economics from the ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He has previously served as a lecturer in Business and Economics at Copperbelt University in Zambia and as Coordinator of Social Ministries for the Jesuit Province of Zambia-Malawi.
Fr. Chilufya is one of the coordinators of an international conference on tax practices. The conference is based on recent research regarding illicit financial flows (IFF), tax justice and poverty. Canadian Jesuits International is honoured to host Fr Chilufya in Canada from March 22–28 as he presents his research regarding illicit financial flows and the need for tax justice to address poverty and inequality in Africa. In his presentations he will highlight connections to Canadian businesses operating within the African context.
