According to the Trevor Project, LGBTQ persons are at increased risk of rejection, depression, and suicide; many report being rejected for religious reasons.

How can the institutional Catholic Church reach out to its LGBTQ members? And how can LGBTQ Catholics engage with their church?

In this session, Fr James Martin, SJ, will explore how the Church can do more to love LGBTQ persons; and how Catholic LGBTQ Catholics can rightfully participate in a church that is already theirs. He will explain how the virtues of “respect, compassion and sensitivity,” taught by the Church, can be used to build a bridge between these two groups.

Fr James Martin, SJ, is the author of the best-selling book Building a Bridge (2017). Fr Martin is also a Jesuit priest, and editor of America Magazine.
