May is the month of Our Lady. St. Ignatius of Loyola had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In fact, it was a vision of Our Lady that caused St. Ignatius to undergo an internal transformation and leave his chivalrous and worldly ways behind to become a soldier of Christ.
Our Blessed Mother is the epitome of maternal perfection, and, especially during these difficult times, like a true mother, she is our hope and our refuge during the good times and the stressful ones.
We continue our Mother’s Day tradition this year, with a Mass celebrated by Father Robert Wong, SJ at St. Monica’s Parish in Richmond, BC, for all our mothers. At this Mass, the special women in the lives of our benefactors and friends will be honoured and remembered. Carnations will be placed in the sanctuary to symbolize the love we all share for mothers, grandmothers, and any woman who is special to us and for whom we wish to pray.
Ordinarily, we would invite you to attend our Mother’s Day Mass if you are able, but during these trying times, that is unfortunately not possible. We invite you to virtually attend another Jesuit Mother’s Day Mass, celebrated by Father Vernon Boyd, SJ at Holy Rosary Parish in Guelph, Ontario at 9:00 am on Sunday, May 10. More information and instructions can be found here.
The Jesuits are always grateful for your prayers and support, and please be assured they are praying for you, and for the special people in your life during this month of Mary.
