Dear Friends,

As the month of May arrives, we are reminded of the significance of Our Lady and the upcoming celebration of Mother’s Day. It is a time to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother of God, Mother of the Church, and Queen of the World. In fact, it was a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary that caused St. Ignatius to undergo an internal transformation and leave his chivalrous and worldly ways behind to become a soldier of Christ.

Our Blessed Mother embodies the perfect image of maternal love and compassion, providing us with hope and a safe haven at all times. As we approach Mother’s Day, let us take a moment to reflect on the importance of motherhood and express our gratitude to the remarkable women who have positively impacted our lives. Whether it be our own mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or other maternal figures, we are blessed to have someone whose love we cherish deeply.

At the Jesuit Office of Advancement, we have a beautiful tradition to celebrate Mother’s Day. On May 14, a Mass will be offered at René Goupil chapel, located within the Jesuit infirmary in Pickering ON, during which the beloved women in the lives of our benefactors and friends will be honoured and remembered.  Carnations will be placed in the chapel to symbolize the love shared by these special women for whom we wish to pray and celebrate.

We warmly invite you to send in the names of those women who have made a difference in your life or the lives of your family members. We look forward to celebrating these wonderful women during our Mass.
