Dear Friends,

I hope you are all well and staying safe, as we await (again) the lessening and end of the current pandemic.

As many of you know, the Jesuits of Canada experienced their own personal tragedy during the pandemic, with the deaths of eight Jesuit priests and brothers at the René Goupil Jesuit Infirmary in Pickering, Ontario.

One of the results of this sad event was the realization that the facility was truly in need of upgrading. Although we have always been blessed with dedicated and caring staff at the infirmary, the building itself needed work to improve safety and permit the caregivers to properly assist the senior Jesuits who have given their lives to the service of God and His faithful.

Funding the renovations, especially given the ever-increasing regulatory burden, was a daunting task, and the Jesuits reached out to you, their dear friends and benefactors, for help. Your response was overwhelming, and far exceeded our hopes.

Thanks to the generosity of so many, the renovations at René Goupil are very close to completion. I would like to share with you this short video, showing not only the physical transformation of the building, but words of thanks from the individual Jesuits who have been helped by your generosity.

You can view the video below.

Thanks again for your prayers and support. All the Jesuits, and especially those at René Goupil House, pray for their benefactors daily.

Sincerely,
Barry J. Leidl
Director, Advancement
