Towards Greater Recognition of Women in the Church and in the Society of Jesus
Almost 25 years after Decree 14, what is the role of women and how are their contributions to the global Society of Jesus and the Jesuit Province of Canada recognized? In order to understand the current context, four women who have been working with the Jesuits for many years have agreed to draw a comprehensive and honest portrait of the situation.
On May 24, Matthew Livingstone, SJ was ordained to the priesthood and Gregory Kennedy, SJ, Joseph Koczera, SJ, and Boniface Mbouzao, SJ to the diaconate, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Toronto. The Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, SJ, Archbishop of Ottawa presided at the ordination liturgy.
Regis College in Toronto Appoints New Academic Dean
The Board of Governors of Regis College is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Scott Lewis, SJ as Dean of Regis College, the Jesuit Faculty in The Toronto School of Theology at the University of Toronto. Fr. Lewis begins his five-year term as Dean on May 1, 2014.
Provincial’s Dinner honours Knights of Columbus and Jesuit Jubilarians
On April 9, the Jesuits English Canada Province hosted its 8th Annual Jesuit Provincial's Dinner, in Toronto honouring the Knights of Columbus, Ontario, with the Magis Award and five Jesuit Jubilarians, men who have been in the Society of Jesus for 50 years.
