Dear Friends,
As May advances, we are wrapped in the loving embrace of Our Lady, drawing us closer to the celebration of Mother’s Day. This month holds a special place in our hearts as we honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Mother of the Church, and Queen of the World. Her divine presence and influence extend beyond measure, guiding us with her maternal care and intercession.
In contemplating the life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are reminded of her unwavering love and compassion, qualities that embody the essence of motherhood. Her example inspires us to cherish and honour all mothers, recognizing the profound impact they have on our lives.
As we prepare to celebrate Mother’s Day, let us reflect on the countless blessings bestowed upon us by the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and maternal figures who have shaped us into who we are today. Their love is a beacon of light, guiding us through life’s journey with steadfast support and affection.
At the Jesuit Office of Advancement, we have a cherished tradition of honouring mothers on this special day. On May 12, a Mass will be held at René Goupil Chapel, located within the Jesuit infirmary in Pickering, ON, to honour and remember the beloved women in the lives of our benefactors and friends. Carnations, symbolizing love and admiration, will adorn the chapel as we offer prayers of gratitude for these remarkable women.
We invite you to share with us the names of the women who have touched your life in a meaningful way. It would be an honour for us to include them in our prayers and celebration during the Mass.
He who is devout to the Virgin Mother will certainly never be lost.”
– St. Ignatius of Loyola
As we honour Our Lady and all mothers this month, please know that the Jesuits are thankful for your prayers and support. They hold you and your loved ones in their prayers, especially during this Mother’s Day celebration.
Respectfully yours in Christ,
Scott McMaster
