Dear Friends,
As we enter November, the month dedicated to the Holy Souls, we are reminded of the sacred connection we share with those who have gone before us. This time invites us to pause, reflect, and pray for our loved ones, relatives, friends, and neighbours who have passed away. Through our prayers and the Eucharist, we remain united with them in a profound and intimate way.
In our Jesuit tradition, we hold fast to the belief that love, and faith transcend death. St. Ignatius urged us to pray for the departed, knowing that these acts of mercy not only bring comfort to their souls but also draw us closer to God’s abundant grace and love. We are invited, especially in this month, to perform acts of charity and prayer as a sign of our enduring bond with our loved ones.
In this spirit of communion, the Jesuits of Canada are continuing the cherished tradition of remembering those dear to us. We warmly invite you to share the names of your loved ones who have passed, so that they may be remembered in prayer. These names will be placed in a special basket at the altar of Rene Goupil Chapel within our Jesuit infirmary. Throughout November, the Jesuit community will lift up your intentions during our daily Eucharist.
Should you feel called, we welcome your donations which provide formation resources for young Jesuits preparing to serve and to support the care of our senior members, who have dedicated their lives to building a more compassionate world. You can send your donations and the names of your loved ones to supportus@jesuits.ca, or reach out to our Jesuit Office of Advancement at 416-481-9154.
Whether through prayer, remembrance or a gift of any size, your support strengthens a community grounded in compassion and service. Together, we ensure that the Jesuit mission thrives, as we carry the light of love, faith, and grace, ensuring that our bonds remain strong into eternal life.
Please pray for the Jesuits today and always.
With gratitude and prayers,
Scott McMaster – Director of Advancement
