Dear Friends,
As we journey together through this sacred season of Lent – a time marked by prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and acts of charity – we are invited to reflect on our inner lives and renew our commitment to God’s call. This March, our hearts are drawn especially to the example of St. Joseph, the humble guardian of the Holy Family, Patron of the Society of Jesus, and the first Patron of Canada.
St. Joseph’s quiet “YES” to God’s invitation is a timeless model of faith and integrity. His courageous acceptance, amid uncertainty and challenge, invites us to ask ourselves:
- How have I discerned God’s call in the quiet moments of my daily life?
- Do I possess the courage to act with integrity, even when the path ahead defies conventional expectations?
- How can I serve those most vulnerable in my community?
- In our modern world – where challenges seem to arise at every turn – St. Joseph’s example encourages us to respond with quiet strength and steadfast trust in God’s plan. Our rich tradition reminds us that Lent is not solely a period of personal renewal but also a call to deepen our solidarity, compassion, and service to others.
May this season of preparation lead us to a renewed encounter with Christ, inspiring our hearts to be more generous, courageous, and compassionate.
The Jesuits remain profoundly grateful for your prayers and support. They ask you to remember that you are held in their daily prayers, especially as we invoke St. Joseph’s intercession for our collective renewal. Please pray for us.
St. Joseph, patron of the Society of Jesus, pray for us!
With gratitude
