Celebrate Jesuit Contributions to Science
Father John McCarthy, SJ

Please join us for a presentation and networking event this March!

The Jesuit Development Office (JDO) is sponsoring a series of events geared to Canadian alumni of Jesuit institutions, organizations, and projects worldwide.

This new initiative will be launched with a reception on March 21, 2018, an event highlighting the contributions of Jesuits to science. Jesuits have been involved in scientific inquiry and discovery since the beginning of the Jesuit order in the 16th century, in many different areas of pure and applied science. For further information on Jesuit involvement in the sciences, you can see some online at: List of Jesuit Scientists.

On March 21, our speaker will be Rev. John McCarthy, SJ, PhD, a well-known lichenologist and author who also serves as Socius (assistant) to the Provincial (head) of the Jesuits in English Canada Province.

Following the presentation, there will be a Q and A session, a chance for informal conversation, along with wine and hors d’oeuvres.

We hope this event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the invaluable contributions Jesuits have made to the sciences, as well as an opportunity to network with fellow Jesuit alumni.

When: March 21, 2018.
Where: Regis College, 100 Wellesley Street West, Toronto ON, M5S 2Z5.
Time: Doors open at 5:00 PM. Presentation at 5:30 PM.

The event is complimentary but please RSVP numbers attending to jdo@jesuits.ca.

We look forward to your participation in this networking initiative of the Jesuits in English Canada.
