The 2018 Provincial's Dinner
April 18, 2018
The Church of the Good Shepherd
Le Parc Dining and Banquet Hall
In 2018, the Scarboro Missions will celebrate the 100th anniversary of their founding. A Society of Canadian Catholics, both priests and laity, the Scarboro Missions truly and unconditionally dedicate their lives to their mission as expressed in Jesus’ words, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). They have made a huge contribution to the Church’s mission of preparing for the Kingdom of God by forming men and women able to find God in work for justice and in encountering cultures and religions.
At our Dinner we will also honour two Jesuit Golden Jubilarians, Fr. Michael Kolarcik, SJ and Br. Leo Mikkola, SJ. Father Kolarcik has a had a long and distinguished academic career, and may be known to some of you through his work at Regis College. He is currently Rector of the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. Brother Leo worked in northern Ontario in indigenous ministry for some years before moving to Toronto in 1996. In Toronto, he has ably, quietly, and efficiently assisted the superior in many Jesuit communities, spending the last 20 years at 2 Dale Avenue.
The celebration will begin with a Mass at The Church of The Good Shepherd, 21 Simonston Blvd, Thornhill, Ontario at 5:00 pm. Following the Mass, there will be a pre-dinner reception at 6:30 pm, which will give you an opportunity to meet some of the Jesuits you have supported over the years. Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. The reception and dinner will be held at Le Parc Dining and Banquet Hall, 8432 Leslie St., Thornhill, Ontario.
The cost of the evening is $150.00 per person (with a tax receipt of $100.00 for a single ticket) or $1,200.00 for a table of eight (with a tax receipt of $800.00 for a table). The proceeds from the dinner will go towards funding a scholarship for a Jesuit in formation.
To order your ticket(s), please complete and mail the enclosed reply before March 1, 2018. The cheque or money order should be made payable to the Jesuit Development Office.
While it may not be practical for some people to attend, we would be delighted to have you grace us with your presence.
The Provincial’s Dinner has been a success each year, mainly because it brings together many friends and supporters of the Jesuits and the Jubilarians. It is a wonderful opportunity to renew old friendships and make new acquaintances.
I hope you will be able to join our celebration.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Peter Bisson, SJ
