Father Michael Stogre died unexpectedly on June 24, 2015, at the Jesuit house in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was in his 71st year of life, four days short of his birthday, and in religious life for 52 years. Michael Joseph Stogre was born in Prince Edward Island on June 28, 1944.
June 23, 2015 - On April 25, 2015 a massive earthquake struck Nepal. It registered a catastrophic 8.1 surface wave magnitude and killed more than 8,800 people while injuring more than 23,000. Amidst the destruction and chaos, the local Jesuit community is helping the Nepali people rebuild.

"Father Van," Jesuit missionary who ministered in Darjeeling, India, died on June 1, 2015 at the age of 88. He was a Jesuit for 70 years. Given his talents, Fr. Van filled many posts in virtually every part of the Darjeeling Mission.

Fr. John (Jack) Stephen Doyle died on May 25, at René Goupil House, Pickering, ON. He was 84 and in his 60th year of religious life. In the summer of 1968, Fr. Doyle flew off to Zambia, spending the next 40 years there and filling many roles.
May 23, 2015 — Today, Pope Francis beatified Archbishop Oscar Romero, moving the martyr a step closer to sainthood. An outspoken advocate for the poor, Romero was shot and killed March 24, 1980, as he celebrated Mass in San Salvador.
May 12, 2015 — Jesuits are responding to the earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25 and has killed over 4,000 people. On May 12, a second earthquake hit a remote mountainous region of Nepal killing at least 36 people and injuring over 1,000.
May 1, 2015 — Jesuit Father Michael Lapierre, Canada’s oldest Jesuit, turns 100 years old on May 2. Born in Chapeau, Allumette Island, Quebec, Fr. Lapierre was 19 with one year at the University of Ottawa under his belt when he turned up in Guelph, Ontario, to enter the Jesuit novitiate in 1934.
April 27, 2015 — Jesuit Brother Paul Desmarais has served as director of the Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre in Zambia for 40 years. Over the last 20 years Br. Desmarais has rethought almost every aspect of conventional Western agriculture and how it’s applied in Africa.
