September 9, 2016 — "If you’re not Roman Catholic, how can you be a Jesuit?” I hear it often. Like a fish in water, many Catholics grow up surrounded by a Church they know and love, without reflecting on what makes the Church the Church.
August 23, 2016 — Declaring their commitment to the Society of Jesus in front of friends and family, 32 Jesuit novices in Canada, the United States and Haiti professed first vows of poverty, chastity and obedience earlier this month.
August 22, 2016 — From a young age, Fr. Helewa learned to pray and love the Church. The Spiritual Exercises helped him mature in the growing awareness of God’s presence in his life. He considers his first religious vows as gifts to the Church with a sense of Jesus’ life and values.
Father Henry Nunn died on July 31, 2016 in Bangalore. He was in his 86th year and in religious life for 65 years. Fr. "Hank" spent many years overseas in India working and is well known for his accomplishments in psychotherapy.
Father Joseph Wang died peacefully on July 15, 2016 at the Toronto General Hospital. He was in his 83rd year and in religious life for 64 years. Originally from China, he spent many years in BC doing pastoral ministry.
July 11, 2016 — On June 22 Canada’s Jesuits gathered in Toronto with First Nations people to make a sort of examination of conscience focused on the relationship between Jesuits and Canadian aboriginal people — a relationship which stretches back to 1611.
June 29, 2016 — If you didn’t know better, you might think that somebody photoshopped the picture of Fr. Larry Kroker, SJ. It shows the priest in a Roman collar, sporting a large ceremonial headdress, brightly colored and flowing with eagle feathers. The image might seem a little incongruous, but it’s real.
