Fr. Roch Lapalme, SJ, Professes Final Vows in the Society

November 14, 2017 — On Nov. 3, Jesuit Father Roch Lapalme pronounced his final vows in the Society of Jesus in Montreal at Maison Bellarmin, the Province office for the Jesuits of French Canada and Haiti.

He professed vows before Father Erik Oland, Provincial of the French Canada Jesuits; Fr. Lapalme’s mother and sister were also present, as well as some of his Jesuit brothers. After the Eucharistic celebration, the guests gathered for a banquet.

Fr. Lapalme was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1964. Before joining the Society in 1995, he studied history and literature at Laval University in Quebec City and at L’Université de Sherbrooke. He coauthored a book devoted to Quebec’s song heritage, “Guide de la chanson québécoise,” in 1996.

He studied theology at Laval University, then completed a master’s degree in spiritual accompaniment at Loyola University Maryland. From 2003 to 2005, he served as chaplain at the College Notre-Dame de Jamhour in Lebanon.

Fr. Lapalme was a Provincial consultor from 2009 to 2013 and a collaborator with the Centre de spiritualité Manrese in Quebec City, where he is currently a member of the board. Since 2015, he has served as the superior of the bi-province novitiate for the Jesuits in French and English Canada. [Source: Jesuites.org]
