April 19, 2016 — The French Canada Jesuit Province’s Relations magazine has been awarded the Lyse-Daniels 2016 Excellence Award from Impératif français. The award is presented annually to individuals or organizations contributing to the promotion of French language and culture.
Relations, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, is published by the Centre justice et foi (Center for Justice and Faith) in Montreal, which was founded by the Society of Jesus. Through its articles, the magazine works to promote a just society by taking a critical look at the social, cultural, economic, political and religious issues of our time.
In awarding the prize, the jury highlighted Relations’ outstanding contribution “to research regarding social, political and cultural issues that preoccupy society. Through the quality and the intellectual rigor of its articles, it fosters the cause of social justice.”
The award also noted that “the magazine offers critical reflections on issues and events that emerge on the international scene. In every issue, Relations opens a window on what is happening in the world.”
