Catholic feminist organizations collected 8,000 names in a petition that calls on the Vatican authorities to allow women religious superiors to work and vote as equals alongside their brothers in Christ at meetings of the 15th Synod of Youth, Faith and vocational discernment. It’s really an update of their first policy on this topic, published in 1992, under tragic and dismal circumstances; namely, the pedophile scandal at the Mount Cashel Orphanage in St. John’s, NL.

In Memoriam
Brother Rosaire Grondin, SJ died Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the Jean-de-Brébeuf community in the Richelieu infirmary. Rosaire was 85 years and in his 65th year of religious life.


Beginning in 1960 he taught for ten years in the Jesuit Faculties of Montreal and served as guest professor for several Canadian universities. In 1970, he became a professor at Laval University, a position which he held for 25 years.

Brother James (Jim) Deshaye died on July 13, 2018 at Scarborough General Hospital. He was in his 76th year and in religious life for 55 years. He was involved in physical work as a handyman of many trades. His silence spoke of his solid day to day spiritual journey.
